Hanania Automotive Group Recognizes Earth Day

Celebrated on April 22nd, Earth Day is dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices. One of the biggest environmental issues we face today is the amount of waste we produce in our day-to-day life. Materials like batteries, oil, and tires can be harmful to the environment, and dealerships always have these in abundance. But Hanania Automotive Group plays an important role in reducing this waste and promoting sustainable practices.

Recycling the batteries, oil, and tires that are removed from vehicles during service is the first step in ensuring we’re promoting a sustainable environment and business. What is good for the environment is also good for our dealerships by reducing the cost of waste disposal.

Battery recycling is particularly important because lead-acid batteries are considered hazardous waste and can contaminate soil and groundwater if not disposed of properly. When a battery is removed from a vehicle, it is taken to a recycling center where the lead and plastic are separated and processed for reuse.

Oil recycling is a vital process since used oil can contain toxic contaminants like lead, arsenic, and cadmium. Instead of disposing of used oil, car dealerships can have it recycled by a licensed recycling facility. The recycled oil can be used as fuel for heating or as a lubricant in industrial equipment.

Old tires can take up a lot of space in landfills and can also be a fire hazard. When tires are removed from a vehicle, they are taken to a recycling center where they are shredded and turned into materials like asphalt or playground surfaces.
